Was passiert beim Schlucken?

Workshop in German

Eating and drinking are basic human needs and culturally reflected in many ways. A variety of medical conditions can mean that it is no longer possible to swallow everything, and often not safely.

In this workshop we will show what happens during swallowing. Using special endoscopic video recordings, participants will be shown how drinks or defined food consistencies are “transported” from the oral cavity to the pharynx and oesophagus. These video recordings are supplemented by X-ray films. Furthermore, signs of dysphagia will be discussed, as well as diagnostic and treatment possibilities including the adaptation of meals for those affected.
