Moderne Diagnostik von Bakterien und Pilzen

Bunte Bakterien

Guided tour in German

Bunte Bakterien

How do you find out which bacteria you are infected with and which antibiotic works best? What does a biosafety laboratory look like, where even dangerous bacteria can be examined? What does the National Reference Center for Tuberculosis do? What is being done in Zurich to combat the antibiotics crisis? We will answer these and many other questions during a guided tour of the Institute of Medical Microbiology (IMM) at the University of Zurich. You will gain insight into diagnostics and research at one of the leading microbiology institutes in Europe.

The IMM offers around-the-clock diagnostic examinations of bacteria and fungi for the University Hospital of Zurich, other hospitals as well as authorities and other senders. The research department also conducts intensive research to better understand microorganisms and their resistances and to develop new methods to diagnose them.
