When it comes to environmental sustainability, the problem is often not a lack of knowledge, but rather translating that knowledge into realistic visions for the future or concrete action. The Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH) highlights three projects that communicate scientific findings in a participatory and accessible way, making them easy to understand, encouraging critical thinking, and opening up new perspectives.
Augmented Ecospheres uses a digital artistic presentation to illustrate how complex natural environments are threatened by the climate crisis.
AgroPionier employs citizen science and geolocation data collected through participatory efforts to enable farmers to share knowledge about niche crops, thereby helping to diversify agriculture.
Public Data Lab combines deep learning with Street View images and public feedback to visualize the quality of green spaces in the Canton of Zurich and open up new perspectives on urban space.
