Communicating Sustainability: New Ways to Share Knowledge
Exhibition and discussion by the Zurich Digitalization Initiative
How can scientific findings on environmental sustainability be communicated in a way that is understandable, encourages critical thinking, and opens up new perspectives? Using three projects from the Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH) as examples, we show how science can be made participatory and accessible.
Augmented Ecospheres uses artistic installations to convey the threat posed by the climate crisis to complex natural habitats.
AgroPionier employs citizen science and participatory geographic data collection to enable farmers to collectively share knowledge about niche crops, thereby helping to diversify agriculture.
Public Data Lab uses deep learning to visualize the quality of green spaces in the Canton of Zurich by combining Street View images with public perceptions, thereby opening up new perspectives on urban space.
