Where these substances are found and how we can deal with them
This Science Café focuses on so-called ‘forever chemicals’: PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). These substances have been used in many products for decades – from Teflon pans and rainwear to packaging and industrial applications. The problem is that PFAS hardly break down in the environment. Today, they can be detected even in remote regions and in human blood. Many of these substances can harm both people and the environment.
In two short presentations, you will learn what PFAS are, why they are problematic, and how we can deal with them in the future. Join the discussion: ask questions and share your thoughts on how we should deal with these invisible chemicals.
