Kinder machen – Eltern machen

What are the opportunities, challenges and risks of modern reproductive medicine?
Science Café in German

Not only are increasingly less people having children in Switzerland, but they are also having them later and more and more frequently with medical and technological support. Some procedures such as egg freezing are allowed in Switzerland, others – such as surrogacy – are not. Due to the rapid progress in the field of reproductive medicine and the changes in society, questions will have to be asked: What should be allowed, what not, and why? What are the opportunities and risks of this development and individual procedures for the individual, the family and society? What social effects, ethical problems and legal issues arise from the further development of reproductive medicine? Learn more about modern reproductive medicine technologies such as egg donation, the selection of embryos after pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and gene editing and discuss with researchers from the University of Zurich’s University Research Priority Program (URPP) “Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2R”.
