Water is of existential value to life. Data about water is also valuable – but often unavailable. The citizen science project CrowdWater lets you collect information about water quantity and condition anywhere in the world using just a smartphone app as your measuring instrument.
Water is important, so is data
Water means life. That is why water issues are among the most existentially threatening problems worldwide. Floods, droughts and water pollution tend to increase. Hydrological data on water volume and quality form an important basis for dealing with these problems and serve as an aid to decision-making when planning resources and measures for mitigation.
However, there is a lack of data in many cases. In large parts of the world, hydrological data are not available. The purchase, installation and maintenance of measuring instruments are expensive, and the collection and handling of the data is time-consuming too.

Water as a link between Irchel and City Campus
