The exhibition ‘Detectives of the Microbial World’ offers insights into the research carried out by the Pathogen Ecology Group in the field of microbial ecology. It focuses on how microbes interact with one another, with their environment and with humans, and how researchers investigate this world, which is invisible to the naked eye. The exhibition shows how scientific discoveries are made: through observation, searching for clues, experiments and the exchange of knowledge. Using the metaphor of detective work, research is presented as a dynamic process fuelled by curiosity, creativity and collaboration.

At the stand, you’ll become a microbial detective yourself. You can explore the exhibition at your own pace and gain different insights into the research process through the various stations. Interactive elements invite you to get involved: a detailed hidden-object picture where you can explore and investigate microbial habitats, as well as an interactive wall with information panels that provide an in-depth look at research methods. Other stations in the exhibition offer exclusive insights into everyday research life and provide the opportunity to speak directly with the scientists. Through playful, visual and tactile approaches, the exhibition invites you to join researchers on a quest for clues in the microbial world.
