Deciphering the Code of Life
Successful research requires brilliant minds, but also state-of-the-art technical support. Get hands-on experimenting with laboratory methods and equipment and learn how they can be used to study the fundamental building blocks of life, such as DNA, proteins, and fats.
The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is a high-tech core facility that supports scientists in creating new knowledge by offering access to the latest technology, robust lab protocols, and bioinformatic support.
At our booth, we offer a fun, hands-on way to experience a day in the lab! Ever wondered what it feels like to be a scientist? Put on bright gloves, goggles, and a lab coat, and experiment with pipetting like you’re in a real lab. Take a memory of your laboratory artwork with you by taking a picture with the Polaroid camera.
Learn how we perform big experiments by using robots and create your own little drink using our automated pipetting robot. If you want to dive deeper into science, you can check out our DNA sequencing experiment to get a feeling for how we can read the code of life. Our scientists at the booth are there to answer your questions and share more insights.
And to top it off, a fun interactive game will keep the kids engaged while you explore.
