Creating knowledge together with citizen science! And AI?
How does AI enhance collaborative research in “citizen science”? Learn where researchers are relying on AI and where citizens can work with AI to support researchers, using the examples of two projects on birdwatching and storytelling.
In “citizen science,” citizens can actively participate in research projects. They share their experiences and knowledge and make a valuable contribution to science. Artificial intelligence (AI) is also playing an increasingly significant role in citizen science.
Using two citizen science projects as examples, you can explore the possibilities of AI together with us: How is AI being used? How can it help break down barriers to access and make it easier for citizens to participate? Where do you see opportunities and challenges related to AI?
The “MyFlock” project develops smart bird feeders and uses AI to identify garden birds. The AI not only recognizes bird species but also each individual bird. Providing information to help scientists to learn more about birds and how to protect them. At the booth, you can step into the role of the AI yourself: Can you identify the birds as well as the AI can?
The “MAGIE” project is working with families to explore how fairy tales can stimulate children’s imagination, language, emotions, and social understanding. AI is used as a creative sparring partner – for example, with a fairy-tale building block set that recombines familiar narrative elements and brings them to life through illustrations. At the booth, you can try out digital tools, develop your own fairy tale ideas, and experience how old stories are being retold, illustrated, and explored using modern technology.
