What happens beneath our feet when plants grow? Become a root detective and explore the hidden world underground! In this hands-on workshop, children will discover the amazing variety of plant roots and learn how they help plants find water and nutrients, anchor themselves in the soil and survive in different environments.

By observing real roots and carrying out simple experiments, participants will uncover why no two root systems are exactly alike and how their shapes are linked to the jobs they perform. Along the way, they will find out why healthy roots are so important for agriculture and our food supply.
