We don’t notice them, and yet hundreds of them pass through us every second: muons from space. They decay again within microseconds—the fact that they make it to us at all is vivid proof of Einstein’s theory of relativity. But what can be explored with these fleeting particles? A journey from quantum materials to batteries and the building blocks of matter, all the way to archaeological treasures.
