Feldforschung um die Ecke

Lecture in German
You don’t necessarily have to travel to exotic places to do fieldwork. You can also do fieldwork at home, around the corner, so to speak, on a daily basis. For example, on one of the numerous cow pastures in Switzerland, either in the midland or in the Alps, where apart from cows or sheep, there are a lot of small animals. One can observe and catch: Beetles, flies, numerous other insects or arthropods that take care of the dung of our farm animals. Pastures are found almost everywhere in the world. This makes it possible to systematically describe and compare the dung organisms of different regions in the field and in the laboratory.
