Vom Wetter in der Schweiz und Leben auf anderen Planeten
Weatherman Gaudenz Flury (SRF) and astrophysicist Sascha Quanz talk at Scientifica Talk about the accuracy of weather forecasts and the question whether there is life on other planets.
A prominent personality chooses a scientist to talk to: That’s the idea behind Scientifica Talks.
Everyone is interested in the weather, whether they farm or live in the city. Accordingly, the ratings on radio and television are high when a weather researcher tells us whether the sun is shining or not.
Gaudenz Flury is one of them. He works for SRF Meteo and will tell us at Scientifica how forecasts are made and what reactions he gets when they are not correct. He wanted an astrophysicist to be his partner for the Scientifica Talk. Flury is interested in what the weather looks like on other celestial bodies and what influence it has on the weather on Earth.
Sascha Quanz is a professor for exoplanets, i.e. planets outside our solar system. He is particularly concerned with the question of whether there is life on one of these 5000 planets known to date.
The discussion will be moderated by Stefan Flury, editor and presenter at Swiss Radio SRF. Find out at Scientifica why both have the same name.
