How do you explore an art movement that was ephemeral, contradictory, and radically experimental? The Dada Trail invites visitors to discover the language experiments that took place in 1916 at the historic Cabaret Voltaire, located at Spiegelgasse 1, and that later inspired countless new artistic developments.

The Dada Trail includes free admission to the exhibition «DadaBetweenLanguages», presented in the vaulted cellar of Cabaret Voltaire. Before or after visiting the exhibition, visitors of all ages can experiment with language just like the Dadaists or adopt the perspective of researchers: What do sound poems sound like? What are all the things you can do with individual letters? How do you decipher barely legible Dada manuscripts? And who or what has been forgotten over the course of history?

The Dada Trail also includes the bar, where visitors can enjoy a coffee or signature drinks such as a Hugo Highball or a Tzara Tzirup, as well as the Dada Library, featuring a selection of publications on Dada.

Dada and Cabaret Voltaire are a significant part of Zurich’s city history with international relevance. Dada is one of the most influential avant-garde movements of the twentieth century, and its ideas continue to resonate today. The Dada Trail offers an ideal opportunity to experience both cutting-edge research and vibrant cultural history firsthand.
