Together with the heart, they form the circulatory system that supplies all tissues with oxygen and nutrients. Functioning blood vessels are indispensable for a healthy life. But our vessels are also subject to malfunction. Vascular diseases are the most common cause of death worldwide. The risk factors that can be influenced include high blood pressure, diet, obesity, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Vascular aging, on the other hand, cannot be influenced.
