How do people with autism perceive the world?<\/p>\n

People with autism often experience the world differently and show differences for example in perception, communication, and social interaction. Researchers are investigating the biological mechanisms underlying these differences and suppose that sensory input is filtered to a lesser extent, causing some information to be perceived as more relevant and intense, while other information\u2014such as social cues\u2014is missed.<\/p>\n

This interactive workshop is co-led by a person with autism and a scientific expert. Participants will learn how knowledge about autism is created and gain insight into how a person with autism perceives the world. Practical exercises involving optical illusions and virtual reality scenes provide fascinating insights into different ways of perceiving the world.<\/p>\n

The workshop is aimed at adults and children in elementary school and older who would like to learn more about autism.<\/p>\n
