And how does this help them develop new materials for medicine, technology and sustainability? On this interactive laboratory tour, you will discover how researchers in the Macromolecular Engineering Lab study the molecular world. Although molecules are tiny, only a billionth of a meter in size, scientists have developed a wide range of tools to investigate how they interact and behave.

You will learn how researchers test new ideas, predict chemical reactions and analyse materials using advanced instruments. Discover how they study everything from recyclable polymers and drug delivery systems to materials for sensors and carbon capture technologies.

The tour includes demonstrations of several research instruments and real examples from current projects. You will be able to try some things yourself!

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at how scientists explore the molecular world and use their discoveries to develop materials with new and useful properties.

How can scientists observe objects that are far too small to see with the naked eye?
