And what happens when materials become so thin that they consist of just a single layer of atoms? On this laboratory tour, you will discover research conducted at the Photonics Laboratory. Researchers here explore how light interacts with matter, from ultra-thin materials to nanoparticles that can be held in place using light.<\/p>\n<p>You will learn about two-dimensional materials such as graphene, which are only one atomic layer thick. Their special electronic and optical properties make them interesting for developing new types of light emitters. During the tour, you will see how researchers handle and manipulate these extremely thin materials.<\/p>\n<p>The tour also takes you into the world between classical and quantum physics. Find out how scientists use light, and so-called optical tweezers, to make nanoparticles levitate and control their movement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe tour includes a visit to a chemistry laboratory.
