How do earthquakes occur? What is moving deep beneath our feet? And why does the ground sometimes shake entire regions? In focusTerra\u2019s permanent exhibition, we explore the causes of earthquakes. Learn how tectonic plates move, why earthquakes occur regularly in Switzerland and how researchers study them. Discover what earthquakes reveal about the Earth\u2019s interior and why they are valuable for science.<\/p>\n

A special highlight of the tour is a visit to the earthquake simulator. In a safe environment, you can experience different earthquake scenarios first-hand and learn how to respond in the event of a real earthquake.<\/p>\n

Please note:<\/strong>
\nParticipation in the earthquake simulator is at your own risk. The simulator is not suitable for children under 5 years of age, people with back or neck problems or other health conditions, or women in an advanced stage of pregnancy. Children aged 5 to 11 may only use the simulator when accompanied by an adult.<\/p>\n
