What would life be without bread, fruit or sugar? Many of the plants that feed us \u2013 including bananas and wheat \u2013 have extra sets of chromosomes. These \u201csuper plants\u201d are not GMOs, but natural innovations that can outperform their \u201cregular\u201d relatives. By studying how evolution has reshaped their genomes, researchers can better understand what makes them so successful \u2013 and how this knowledge could help us grow better crops in the future.<\/p>\n
