Mit LISA ins All

Albert Einstein predicted the existence of gravitational waves as early as 1916 within the framework of general relativity. However, gravitational waves were not directly detected until 2015 with the help of earthbound detectors. Currently, the European Space Agency is planning to place a gravitational wave observatory with a laser interferometer space antenna (LISA) in space. Thanks to LISA, astrophysicists will be able to observe previously unexplored gravitational waves. In addition, the giant measuring device could help to fathom the mystery of dark matter. We provide an insight into the LISA space project, in which Switzerland and the University of Zurich are participating.
