In 2015, the heads of state and government of the 193 UN member states agreed on 17 global goals, the so-called Sustainable Development Goals. These goals aim to end poverty, fight inequality and address climate change by 2030. In the meantime, more than five years have passed, and there is still much to do! All of us – academics, students, and civil society – must work together to achieve these goals. Citizen Science, the participation of the general public in scientific research, plays an important role in this. Through Citizen Science, citizens* can bring new perspectives and knowledge to science and decision-making, and help create a better and more sustainable future for all. Learn more about Citizen Science and its importance for a sustainable society.
