After five years of construction, the new laboratory buildings for the Institute of Chemistry will open at the end of August 2021.

In the new laboratories, the chemical sciences will combine basic research with sustainable applications: safe batteries for renewable energies, natural approaches for organic agriculture and possible medicines for safe ageing. Complementary research is offered by the Institute of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies, which studies sustainability in large systems, for example, and the Institute of Quantitative Biomedicine, which combines basic research with transnational research and medical informatics.
