Waves – Dive in!
Be it water waves, sound waves, earthquake waves or light: waves are omnipresent in our lives and are used for a variety of applications. But what do all waves have in common? How do they differ? And how do we use their properties in our lives? Dive into the fascinating world of waves.
Constantly and everywhere, we are surrounded by waves, even if we can only perceive some of them: water waves, sound waves, earthquake waves, light. However, waves are not only omnipresent in our lives, but are used for a wide variety of applications – in medicine, for communication, when looking into Earth or in navigation.
Very different applications make use of the same wave properties. For example, measuring the thickness of a glacier and the ultrasound examination of an unborn baby have more in common than is apparent at first glance. And how we use our ears to determine where a sound is coming from works in much the same way as determining our own location with GPS.
The exhibition stand introduces the special exhibition “Waves – Dive in!” by focusTerra. With large-format, colorful illustrations and many hands-on exhibits, the exhibition invites visitors to playfully discover the meaning, beauty and power of waves with all their senses.
Let yourself be carried away and dive into the fascinating world of waves – in nature, everyday life, art and research.
